Book on Dr.Raj released

A compilation of articles on the icon of Kannada cinema Dr.Rajkumar'Kannada Kalakanteerava Dr.Rajkumar edited by Gowri Sunder was released at a crowded auditorium on Thursday evening at Ravindra Kalakshetra.

Sri Balagangadharanath Swamiji releasing the book said this book is a model for the younger generation. Prof G.Venkatasubbaiah the authority in Kannada and English language said Dr.Rajkumar was not just an actor. He was a human being worked for the cause of Kannada and culture he said. Smt.Parvathamma Rajkumar lauded the effort of Gowri Sunder in bringing out this book.

On this occasions the veterans C.V.L.Shastry, Basave Gowda, Shivashanker, Subba Rao, Panyam Nataraj, Veeraiah, Vishwanath, S.Ramanathan, Geethapriya, Hamsalekha, Dr.Bujanga Shetty, Dr.C.Somasekhar, B.K.Subba Rao, V.S.Krishna Iyer were felicitated.

The highlight of musical evening was Veeraghase folk dance and song from Adichunchanagiri troupe.

Dr.Rajkumar the icon of Kannada cinema has been torch bearer even after his death. The strong visionary in life Dr.Rajkumar donation of eyes has opened the eyes of many bigwigs in the social life. There were thousands of applications at the different eye hospitals in Karnataka when the eyes of Dr.Rajkumar were removed after his death on April 12 2006. Now former Prime Minister H.D.Deve Gowda, his son the sitting chief minister of Karnataka H.D.Kumaraswamy, superstars Dr.Vishnuvardhana , Shivarajkumar, Lok Ayuktha Chief Santosh Hegde have signed letter of agreement with Narayana Nethralaya to donate their eyes.

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai, B.Saroja Devi, actor Doddanna, Justice Chandrasekhar, cricketer Anil Kumble have given their consent signing a letter to Dr.Bhujanga Shetty who is very famous eye specialist in Karnataka.
